Waiting on Wednesday (19)

Psssst! Yeah, that's right I'm talking to you. After rambling in my brain i have finally chosen my pickssss on what i'm waiting on and here they are!

Going Vintage by Lindsey Leavitt
Pages:
Publisher: Blomsbury
Pub date: 2013

Synopsis:

The story of a girl figuring out the truths and illusions of life and love, both in the nostalgic past and in the very real now. Laugh-out-loud humour combines with a hint of romance in this delightful contemporary novel.

The cure for a broken heart? Go vintage and live like it’s 1962!

Mallory’s boyfriend, Jeremy, isn’t just cheating on her. He’s cheating with an online girlfriend. So Mallory decides to swear off boys and modern technology. Inspired by a list of goals her grandmother made in 1962, Mallory decides to “go vintage” and return to a simpler time. She sets out to complete grandma’s list: run for pep club secretary, host a dinner party, sew a homecoming dress, find a steady, do something dangerous.

The list proves to be trickier than it looks. Obviously finding a steady is out . . . no matter how intriguing she finds Oliver (er, Jeremy's cousin). But with the help of her sister, Mallory will finish the list and find peace.
Somehow. *From Goodreads

Going Vintage sounds like a enjoyable contemporary read. And by mentioning vintage i love vintage and, of course, also the cover of this book! ' The cure for a broken heart? Go vintage and live like it’s 1962! ' Now this is what peaks my interest. Does going vintage really cure your heart? My only problem is that, again, why is it coming out in 2013?!

Review + Giveaway: Pandora's Key by Nancy Richardson Fischer

Pandora's Key (The Key Trilogy #1)
by Nancy Richordson Fischer
pages: 304
Publisher: CreatSpace
Release date: November 19th 2011

Synopsis:

The key to saving the world hangs from her neck…

Sixteen-year-old Evangeline Theopolis doesn’t know her father, her mother is having delusions, and her godmother is, at the very least, a murderer. A clandestine Order called the Archivists is trying to find and kill her for a magical talisman she believes is just a necklace with an antique key charm. And an ancient and lethal female Sect is bent on kidnapping her.
To fight her deadly adversaries Evangeline is forced to use both her wits and the supernatural talents she never imagined she possessed. Her journey takes her to the steps of Mount Olympus where she will discover her true identity and have a decision to make: accept who she really is or take responsibility for the destruction of the world. *From Smashwords

Pandora's Key has its ups and downs like every other books but significant because of the twisted Greek mythology is intriguing.

On her sixteenth birthday Evangeline is given the key necklace that has been passed down generations in her family-mother to daughter. But when Evangeline mother starts to get sick and  Evangeline is hallucinating she can't help but think that something is really wrong. Malledy is a Archivist with a disease (Huntington's disease) he wishes for a cure but there isn't hope. But there is a chance that Pandora's descendant will cure him-if he finds her.

Firstly, i would say that Pandora is a great book but it also had some negative points. One, the slow pace after the exciting start started to bore me, however, it did pick up so i did enjoy it. Secondly, what really annoyed me was Evangeline. Evangeline is a strong character but she didn't put much effort in actually believing on the Pandora. She only started to realise like nearly a quarter to the end and that really ticked me off.

On the other hand, i loved the Greek mythology twist in the story! For a start i love Greek mythology so it already had a positive point before i read it and then i found out that it was about the Pandora's Box (of course because of the title) it added another plus side to it. Then, another thing i loved about the Greek mythology twist was that Malledy was a Archivist. Archivists are people who gets mission to get things (and let me tell you they are not ordinary stuffs.) These are immortal things that we humans or any mortal can never lie their eyes on.

Therefore, i would give it a rating of 2.5. I would recommend this to readers who likes Greek mythology. I'm hoping to read The Key To Tartarus soon! The teaser was too much to handle!

My rating:

Only tea? No snacks or biscuits?!
(2.5)

Review: Frost by Kate Avery Ellision

    Frost (Frost #1)
    by Kate Avery Ellison
    Pages: 194
    Publisher: Createspace
    Release date: 18th April 2012

    Synopsis:

In the icy, monster-plagued world of the Frost, one wrong move and a person might end up dead—and Lia Weaver knows this better than anyone. After monsters kill her parents, she must keep the family farm running despite the freezing weather and threat of monster attacks, or risk losing her siblings to reassignment by the village Elders. With dangers on all sides and treachery just one wrong step away, she can’t afford to let her emotions lead her astray. So when her sister finds a fugitive bleeding to death in the forest, a young man from beyond the Frost named Gabe, Lia surprises herself and does the unthinkable.
    She saves his life.
Giving shelter to the fugitive could get her in serious trouble. The Elders have always described the advanced society of people beyond the Frost, the “Farthers,” as ruthless and cruel, and her village has nothing to do with them. But Lia is startled to find that Gabe is empathetic and intelligent…and handsome. She might even be falling in love... *From Smashwords

    Review:

*Received a copy for a honest review.

I have got to say Frost is not your typical read. It is in the shadows and the darkness.

Lia Weaver lives with her siblings, her sister, Ivy and her brother, Jonn. Her parents were killed by watchers. In Frost there are secrets that could kill you and if you roam around you won't live for long. The Watchers watch your every step. They are monsters. The Fathers are from another land. It all starts when Ivy finds him lying on the snow bleeding. By Lia looking after him it means betraying the villages trust. But when they find out that he (Gabe) is a Father and a rouge, Lia's world turns upside down. She finds secrets that have been hidden from her and also finds love. But some time's it can be too late.

Hold on, i need to breathe! I just can't stop boasting about this! Everything was perfect except *one little thing*, and i repeat: "one little thing." Anyway, moving on. First things first: i love Kate Avery Ellision! Her writing is so beautiful and the way she puts twists in her story! The plot of this story is set in a fantasy world, where people live in Frost and the Fathers live in a world of dull days. There are also Watchers (god are they creepy!) Every time, the pop up into the story it sends you shivers down your spine (and let me tell you, it's not in a good way.) These people do not mix together! And oh how i loved it! I just loved each and every single thing about the plot, the Fathers and the Watchers.

The only thing that annoyed me was that Lia, our main character, was brave but  she couldn't make her mind up! Seriously! Make your mind up, girl!! Gabe, i thought, was a interesting character but he was more of a normal guy to me. The story didn't really look into him in more detail of his feelings and i would have loved it if there was. The only things we know are little detail was his story of how he got here. Other than these things i loved every single thing about it!

The mystery in this story is just mesmerising. You can't help but wait in anticipation (and maybe skip a few words or paragraphs.) The different characters in this book are all for a purpose and oh was i shocked when i found out some things. Some of these characters don't even look like they could kill people!

So, in the end, i have to say i loved reading Frost! It's one of my favourite book for a creep-you-out read. And i would highly recommend to read Frost or one of Ellison's work.

    About the author:

I've been making up stories since I was five years old, and now I'm thrilled to be able to do it as a full-time job. I have an obsession with dark fantasy, dystopian futures, and Pride and Prejudice-style love stories full of witty banter and sizzling, unspoken feelings. When I'm not writing, I spend my time gardening, composing music, and... look, who am I kidding? I spend most of my time tweeting, reading funny blogs, and watching TV. As threat escalates, romance blooms, and ghosts from her past begin to surface, Dawn is sure of only one thing: her life will never be the same.

    Review:

To start i've got to say that i'm a sucker for beautiful cover-everyone is! Anyway, the cover is so beautiful! I was cover spoilt! Then i had the chance to read this and of course, i jumped in and ended up with this gorgeous book!

ReVamped is a book where vampires and humans coexist together in the near future. Dawn a seventeen year old vampire is finally allowed out of the Scarlet House grounds. She is going on a mission to train new guardian of Angel Creek.

Ada Adams shows the fun things about vampires, which i thought was amazing because we don't often see this part of the story. This is one of the reasons you really want to read this! There's things like Blood Cola and Blood Vodka.

I love Dawn's character. She's strong but at the same time you can still relate to her. I loved discovering things through her eyes.

Well, as you know every story has to have a boy to get involved with the girl but this time there's two. I would rather choose Sebastian over Ethan.

ReVamped's plot has a whole lot of twist and turns! From the start it makes you hooked-hell! I was already hooked from the prologue! All the way to the end i thought the plot was the best thing ever. And oh God! The ending was just perfect! Like a cheesy romantic movie! I couldn't but say 'aaaaawww!'

ReVamped did have some ups and downs for me so finally thinking so hard about it i'm giving it a 3 out of 4! God! It was so hard to chose! My brain was going mumbo jumbo! But finally after falling for the cheesy romantic ending it closed up my decision.

I can't wait to see what happens next in Angel Creek!

    Review:

To start i have never read an extra book i have only read what's in the series: #1, #2, #3 and so on but never novellas. However, after reading Between i think i'll read them in the future. Between was a journey to explore Sam's brother. It was interesting to see what he felt.

The story is about how Logan feels about pretending. He feels fed up of his dad and how his mum never helps him. Angry about Sam running away. And school isn't going the right track. With all this happening, at the same time, Logan isn't feeling well. He knows what's happening but can't help but hope for the better. But after feeling fed up on how his life is he runs to find his brother, Sam.

Betwen is an interesting novella to read. It shares the feeling of Sam's brother Logan. By the end of this novella i couldn't but crave for the upcoming book after Masquerade!

The Clave is determined to destroy Sebastian, but there is no way to harm one boy without destroying the other. Will the Shadowhunters hesitate to kill one of their own?
Only a small band of Clary and Jace’s friends and family believe that Jace can still be saved — and that the fate of the Shadowhunters’ future may hinge on that salvation. They must defy the Clave and strike out on their own. Alec, Magnus, Simon and Isabelle must work together to save Jace: bargaining with the sinister Faerie Queen, contemplating deals with demons, and turning at last to the Iron Sisters, the reclusive and merciless weapons makers for the Shadowhunters, who tell them that no weapon on this earth can sever the bond between Sebastian and Jace. Their only chance of cutting Jace free is to challenge Heaven and Hell — a risk that could claim any, or all, of their lives.
And they must do it without Clary. For Clary has gone into the heart of darkness, to play a dangerous game utterly alone. The price of losing the game is not just her own life, but Jace’s soul. She’s willing to do anything for Jace, but can she even still trust him? Or is he truly lost? What price is too high to pay, even for love?
Darkness threatens to claim the Shadowhunters in the harrowing fifth book of the Mortal Instruments series.

Reviw: Die For Me by Amy Plum

    Die For Me (Revenants #1)
    By Amy Plum
    Pages: 344
    Publisher: Atom
    Release date: May 11th 2011

    Summary:

Would you risk your life for love?
My life had always been blissfully, wonderfully normal. But it only took one moment to change everything.
Suddenly, my sister, Georgia, and I were orphans. We put our lives into storage and moved to Paris to live with my grandparents. And I knew my shattered heart, my shattered life, would never feel normal again. Then I met Vincent.
Mysterious, sexy, and unnervingly charming, Vincent Delacroix appeared out of nowhere and swept me off my feet. Just like that, I was in danger of losing my heart all over again. But I was ready to let it happen.
Of course, nothing is ever that easy. Because Vincent is no normal human. He has a terrifying destiny, one that puts his life at risk every day. He also has enemies . . . immortal, murderous enemies who are determined to destroy him and all of his kind.
While I'm fighting to piece together the remnants of my life, can I risk putting my heart—as well as my life and my family's—in jeopardy for a chance at love?

    Review:

This book is love at first sight!

Kate who has just lost her parents gas moved to Pars to her grandparents with her sister, Georgia. There she meets Vincent, with his good looks and charming manner (what do you expect? It's France.) He seems to look like a normal guy, but he isn't. Vincent is a Revenant a fancy word for saying the undead-zombies, ghost whatever, but not vampires. But been undead has a payment to give. Vincent and his friends have to save people when they are in danger of ending their lives. And with every good guys you get the bad guys as well. The bad guys: Numa. They are just like Revenants but they are made out of cold murder and many bad things. Without knowing what is still out there Kate turns a blind eye to the negative points and still carries on walking towards danger.

As i said before : "This book is love at first sight!" So this is why everyone is making a fuss out of this series and i have to i agree with them. Die For Me just sucks you in with it's crazy world and characters.
