If he ever cast that wicked grin her way, could she possibly resist him?

Katya's World by Jonathan L. Howard
Pages: 320
Publisher: Strange Chemistry
Pub date: November 6th 2012

Synopsis:

The distant and unloved colony world of Russalka has no land, only the raging sea. No clear skies, only the endless storm clouds. Beneath the waves, the people live in pressurised environments and take what they need from the boundless ocean. It is a hard life, but it is theirs and they fought a war against Earth to protect it. But wars leave wounds that never quite heal, and secrets that never quite lie silent.

Katya Kuriakova doesn’t care much about ancient history like that, though. She is making her first submarine voyage as crew; the first nice, simple journey of what she expects to be a nice, simple career.

There is nothing nice and simple about the deep black waters of Russalka, however; soon she will encounter pirates and war criminals, see death and tragedy at first hand, and realise that her world’s future lies on the narrowest of knife edges. For in the crushing depths lies a sleeping monster, an abomination of unknown origin, and when it wakes, it will seek out and kill every single person on the planet.

Why i'm waiting:

Adventure at sea? AND Pirates?! Did it tell you how much i love pirates? I frickin' love them with all my heart! If i could i would be one! So yes without hesitation i am adding it to my TBR pile and you should as well!

Waiting on Wednesday (23): The Summer Prince

WAITING ON WEDNESDAY is a weekly event, hosted at Breaking The Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.

I haven't been around much and it sucks! I feel really bad but this time i really wanted to post something so i went along with this meme, which i really love. I have been out of the loop but i found this on one of the blogs that i follow feature it on her WoW and i had to pick this! Here it is...

The Summer Prince by Alaya Dawn Johnson
Pages:
Publisher: Scholastic
Pub date: March 2013

Synopsis:

Four hundred years ago, the world ended. And now, on the coast of what was once called Brazil, women rule in the legendary pyramid city of Palmares TrĂªs. The city's Queen only cedes her power to a man once every five years -- to a Summer King, whose story will grip the city like a fever.

For June Costa, art is everything. Her brilliant creations -- from murals and holograms to a delicate pattern of lights in her skin -- have impressed (and irritated) her classmates and teachers alike. Her dream is to win the prestigious Queen's Award, and the instant fame and success that come with it. It's a dream she never questions -- until she meets Enki. Enki, the newly-elected Summer King, is the hottest thing in Palmares TrĂªs. But when June sees Enki, she sees more than piercing amber eyes and a lethal samba: She sees a fellow artist.

Together, June and Enki will create art that Palmares TrĂªs will never forget. They will add fuel to a growing rebellion against the government's strict limits on new tech. And June will fall deeply, tragically in love with Enki.

Because like all Summer Kings before him, Enki is destined to die.

Why i'm waiting:

This sounds so good! I love the cover; It's gorgeous! I love the sound of it and the fact that the world ended ' Four hundred years ago ' it's another plus to read. The only problem is that it's released in 2013 (i've been choosing 2013 books a lot but they are hard to resist. Need to find 2012 books i'm eager for.) I'm loving the sound of the romance but it's heartbreaking to hear this: ' Because like all Summer Kings before him, Enki is destined to die. ' *Holding in the tears*

Going Vintage by Lindsey Leavitt
Pages:
Publisher: Blomsbury
Pub date: 2013

Synopsis:

The story of a girl figuring out the truths and illusions of life and love, both in the nostalgic past and in the very real now. Laugh-out-loud humour combines with a hint of romance in this delightful contemporary novel.

The cure for a broken heart? Go vintage and live like it’s 1962!

Mallory’s boyfriend, Jeremy, isn’t just cheating on her. He’s cheating with an online girlfriend. So Mallory decides to swear off boys and modern technology. Inspired by a list of goals her grandmother made in 1962, Mallory decides to “go vintage” and return to a simpler time. She sets out to complete grandma’s list: run for pep club secretary, host a dinner party, sew a homecoming dress, find a steady, do something dangerous.

The list proves to be trickier than it looks. Obviously finding a steady is out . . . no matter how intriguing she finds Oliver (er, Jeremy's cousin). But with the help of her sister, Mallory will finish the list and find peace.
Somehow. *From Goodreads

Going Vintage sounds like a enjoyable contemporary read. And by mentioning vintage i love vintage and, of course, also the cover of this book! ' The cure for a broken heart? Go vintage and live like it’s 1962! ' Now this is what peaks my interest. Does going vintage really cure your heart? My only problem is that, again, why is it coming out in 2013?!

Reaper by L.S. Murphy
Pages:
Publisher:
Release date:

Summary:
There's no way sixteen year old Quincy Amarante will become the fifth grim reaper. None. Not over her shiny blue Mustang. Her Jimmy Choos. Or her dead body.
She’s supposed to enjoy her sophomore year, not learn about some freaky future Destiny says she has no choice but to fulfill.
It doesn’t take long for Quincy to realize the only way out of the game is to play along especially since Death can find her anyway, anywhere, anytime. And does.
Like when she’s reassuring her friends she wants nothing to do with former best friend Ben Moorland, who’s returned from god-knows-where, and fails. Miserably.
Instead of maintaining her coveted popularity status, Quincy’s goes down like the Titanic.
Maybe ... just maybe ... that’s okay.
It seems, perhaps, becoming a grim reaper isn’t just about the dead but more about a much needed shift in Quincy’s priorities—from who she thinks she wants to be to who she really is.

Waiting on Wednesday (16): Devine Intervention

Devine Invertention
by Martha Brockenbrough
Pages: 320
Publisher: Aurthur A. Levine books
Expected Publication: June 1st 2012

Summary:

There is a great legend of the guardian angel who travelled across time and space for the human girl he loved, slaying those who would threaten her with a gleaming sword made of heavenly light.
This is not that story.
Jerome Hancock is Heidi Devine's guardian angel. Sort of. He's more of an angel trainee, in heaven's soul-rehabilitation program for wayward teens. And he's just about to get kicked out for having too many absences and for violating too many of the Ten Commandments for the Dead.
Heidi, meanwhile, is a high school junior who dreams of being an artist, but has been drafted onto her basketball team because she's taller than many a grown man. For as long as she can remember, she's heard a voice in her head - one that sings Lynyrd Skynyrd, offers up bad advice, and yet is company during those hours she feels most alone.
When the unthinkable happens, these two lost souls must figure out where they went wrong and whether they can make things right before Heidi's time is up and her soul is lost forever.
Martha Brockenbrough's debut novel is hilarious, heartbreaking, and hopeful, with a sense of humour that's wicked as hell, and writing that's just heavenly
