Waiting on Wednesday (19)

Psssst! Yeah, that's right I'm talking to you. After rambling in my brain i have finally chosen my pickssss on what i'm waiting on and here they are!

Going Vintage by Lindsey Leavitt
Pages:
Publisher: Blomsbury
Pub date: 2013

Synopsis:

The story of a girl figuring out the truths and illusions of life and love, both in the nostalgic past and in the very real now. Laugh-out-loud humour combines with a hint of romance in this delightful contemporary novel.

The cure for a broken heart? Go vintage and live like it’s 1962!

Mallory’s boyfriend, Jeremy, isn’t just cheating on her. He’s cheating with an online girlfriend. So Mallory decides to swear off boys and modern technology. Inspired by a list of goals her grandmother made in 1962, Mallory decides to “go vintage” and return to a simpler time. She sets out to complete grandma’s list: run for pep club secretary, host a dinner party, sew a homecoming dress, find a steady, do something dangerous.

The list proves to be trickier than it looks. Obviously finding a steady is out . . . no matter how intriguing she finds Oliver (er, Jeremy's cousin). But with the help of her sister, Mallory will finish the list and find peace.
Somehow. *From Goodreads

Going Vintage sounds like a enjoyable contemporary read. And by mentioning vintage i love vintage and, of course, also the cover of this book! ' The cure for a broken heart? Go vintage and live like it’s 1962! ' Now this is what peaks my interest. Does going vintage really cure your heart? My only problem is that, again, why is it coming out in 2013?!

The Assassins Curse by Cassandra Rose Clarke
Pages: 416
Publisher: Strange Chemistry
Pub date: October 2nd 2012

Synopsis:

Ananna of the Tanarau is the eldest daughter of a highly-ranked family in the loose assortment of cutthroats and thieves in the Pirate's Confederation. When she runs away from the marriage her parents have arranged for her, they hire Naji the assassin to murder her.

When a mysterious woman in a dress shop offers her magical assistance for dealing with the assassin, Ananna accepts. She never went in much for magic herself -- she lacks the talent for it -- but she's not quite ready to die yet, either. Unfortunately, the woman's magic fails.

Fortunately, Ananna inadvertently saves the assassin's life in the skirmish, thus activating a curse that had been placed on him a few years earlier. Now, whenever her life is in danger, he must protect her -- or else he experiences tremendous physical pain. Neither Ananna nor the assassin, Naji, are pleased about this development.

Follow Annana and Naji as they sail across the globe, visiting such mysterious places as the Court of Salt and Waves, in their desperate effort to lift the curse. Soon they will discover that only by completing three impossible tasks will they be able to set themselves free. *From Goodreads

  1. Going Vintage sounds really cute. Following the 60s way of your grandmothers journal and sewing your own prom dress and getting a steady. LOL The Assassins Curse sounds really interesting. Accidentally putting a curse on him so he has to protect her. Should be crazy! Thanks for stopping by!

  2. Fabulous picks of books this week! I've never heard about The Assassins Curse, but it sounds REALLY good! <3 Going Vintage seems like a really funny and cute read! I read Sean's Griswold Head by the same author and it's a great book. The main characters always seem to do strange, crazy, yet fun things to overcome problems in their life hehe! x)
