Review: City Of Ashes (The Motal Instruments #2) by Classandra clare

City Of Ashes (The Mortal Instruments #2)
By Classandra Clare
Pages: 453
Publisher: Simon & Schuster Children's
Published: March 2008

Haunted by her past, Clary is dragged deeper into Ney York City's terrifying  underworld of demons and shadowhunters-but canshe control her feelings for a boy who can never be hers?

Review:

Now that Clary has found out that Jace is her brother (or is he?) They can't be together.

There's so much packed in this book. Everything is everywhere. This story is racing till the finish line. You can never  predict whats going to happen. You'll be at the edge of your seat when you finish this. Clary and Simon are going out and then Clary is still thinking about Jace. Sometimes she likes Jace and then she doesn't. At first when i found out Clary and Simon were going out i was like 'is that gonna work?' because Clary still has feelings for Jace. Clary's mum is still in a coma. They still have to stop Valentine with his evil deeds. And they have to get the Mortal Instruments from Valentine.

~Something new~

So, there are things that are new in the second book. The first new thing that will make you scream is magic. Jace and Clary have new magic.
Clary can make runes. For example, if she wants to melt something she'll draw the rune in her head. And finally Jace. For some reason Jace can jump. I know it sounds funny but he can jump as high as a three story buildings, maybe even higher. I don't know how this is helpful but i think Classandra has a trick up her sleeve for the jump.

The second things that are new are characters.

The new characters:

  • The Inquistor aka Imogen.
Back story- used to be part of the circle for Valentine.
Imogene's character has a sad story that goes along with it. When she used to be with Valenine in the circle she was devoted to valentine but when Valentine kills her son, Stephen, she hates Valentine with all her heart.

  • Maia- a member of Luke's pack.
Back story- was turned to a werewolf by her boyfriend. I'm thinking that Simon and her like each other. That would be nice. It would bring many different possibilities for the series.

  • Seelie Queen- Queen to the faeries

I'm so heart broken for Clary and Jace's fragile relationship. And do you see how Simon just says Clary is his girlfriend-eventhough she is-in front of Jace. Can Simon not see how Jace looks at Clary and how Clary looks at Jace! But then the story develops. Simon, Clary, Jace, Alec and Issabelle go see the Seelie Queen and i was like 'oh yeah,' when Jace and Clary kissed 'thank you, Seelie Queen for making them do that!' And it was right in front of Simon. Then, when they're going back to the Institute Simon goes missing. *Dramatic music* where is he gone? Then Raphel turns up with Simon in his arms and Simon is bleeding everywhere and then Clary goes all dramatic about Simon leaving her. Then they find out he's not dead but turning into a vampire! And i'm like are you trying to hurt Clary?! He just makes up his mind by changing into a vampire and he doesn't talk about it to Clary! If he's changing so Clary can love him then he made the wrong decision. And i wanna know the actuall reason he turned into a vampire, Classandra didn't explain it. And finnally but not least Classandra makes you hate her by doing a cliif hanger at the end. However, there's another thing that is stuck in my head; what did Imogen say to Jace when she was dying?!

I can't wait to read the next book. I've got sooooo many questions. What will happen to Jace and Clary's relationship? Will Clary's mum wake up from her comma? Jace and Clary are they really sibilings?
Ahhhh! I'm really fustrated now. I really, really, really want to read city of glass.
If you have read City Of Ashes (of course you have, i'm just late) then what was your favorite part? Do you agree with me on this review?

Review: Playing With Fire (Skulduggery Pleasant #2) by Derek Landy

Playing With Fire (Skulduggery Pleasant #2)
by Derek Landy
Pages: 320
Publisher: Harper Collins Children's Book
Published: January 2008

Don't try this at home.

You know how it is-you think you've saved the world, and then ANOTHER evil villan turns up with an unbeatable monster and starts breaking things.
Oh, yes, and you've got a skull for a head. A thirteen-year-old girl for a side kick. And no clue what to do...

Review:

*SPOILERS!!! SPOILERS!!! This review contains spoilers for people who have not read the book.

Valkyrie Cain, a sidekick to a detective, Skulduggery Pleasant; a living person...well if you don't count that he is only made up of bones. Now that Valkyrie has defeated Serpine and saved the Sanctuary. But now that's done theres a new villain.

The short story: Valkrie and Skulduggery needs to defeat Baron Vengeous and stop the unbeatable monster; which has a part of the faceless ones.

This post is about skulduggery Pleasant book 2 and a mix of book 1, because i just love this serie.
This Skulduggery Pleasant eries is all about not reviving the faceless ones. The faceless ones once ruled and people didn't like them.

Valkyrie Cain was once known as Stephanie Edgely. In book one her uncle Gordon is dead and that's the trigger where she knows of Skulduggery, magic and all about herself. She finds out that she is the part of the ancient race of mages called the Ancient ones that vanished the race of gods, the Faceless ones. Valkyrie Cain's character is promising for action and danger. I don't know what to think of her but i wanna know what she can do as the Ancient ones mage. Right now the book has only told us that she is part of the ancient race of mages called the Ancient ones but hasn't gone anywhere from that.

Skulduggery Pleasant is a funny, calm and loving character. He makes jokes, with sarcasm and he's always calm and whemn i mean always it means always. The originality of his character is great. I would love to meet him in real life. His character is also mysterious, because we don't know much about his past and he seems to know everybody.

The thing i liked about the book was the idea of having three names. It makes me believe that it is true. In this book it says that everyone has three names. One, the name you are born with and with this name witch, wizard and magical creatures can control you. Two, the name your parents give to you. And three, the name that you give yourself so witches, wizards and magical creatures cannot control you.

In Playing with Fire the extra bit that will be stuck in your head forever is the mirror copy of Valkyrie Cain. When Skulduggery and Valkyrie is in a critical point Valkyrie and her mirror copy has to exchange because Skulduggery has to kill Valkyrie in front of people, but after this accident Valkrie's mirror copy has being strange. Somtimes, Valkyrie's mirror copy has its own feeling and thats bad.

To sum it all up i think that Playing with fire is an amazing, action packed and hooking book.

Review:

Thank god I found a book to read! I didn't have a book to read at the start of 2012.can you believe that?! So this book was the first book that came into my hands and I had to read it!

The short story: Haven has to find Iain Morrow and see for her own eyes that he is Ethan and save him from the Ouroboros Society.

Haven character is confusing in this book when she talks about Iain. First she like Iain and then she doesn't. Then she like him again and then she thinks he's a psycho! Make your mind up girl!!!The character i love is Beau, because he has guts.

Review: The Night Circus by Erin Morgenster

The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern
Pages: 387
Publisher: Harvill Secker
Published: September 2011

Summary:

The circus arrives without warning. No announcements are made...
It is simply there, when yesterday it wasn't.

In 1886, a mysterious traveling circus becomes an night constructed entirely in black and white, Le Cirque des rives delights all who walks its circular paths and warm themselves at its bonfire.

Although there are acrobats, fortune-tellers and contoritionists, the Circus of Dreams is no conventional spectacle. Some tents contain clouds, some ice. The circus seems almost to cast a spell over its afictionados, who call themselves the revers-the dreamers.

At the heart of the story is the tangled relationship between two young magicians, Celia, the enchanter's daughter, and Macro, the soccer's apprentice. At he behest of their shadowy masters they ind themselves locked in  a deadly contest, forced to test the very limits of the imagination, and of their love...

Review:

Th Night Circus is one of the best books I have read in 2011. It's full of magic...Well, that is what it's suppose to be about.

This book is hard to follow with all the dates and names. For example, you don't know why Bailey is in the story, but it makes it sense in the end. I was surprised that Bailey is going to get the circus.

Look Into My Eyes (Ruby Redfort #1) by Lauren Child

'Sure,' said ruby. 'don't blab, sounds pretty simple to me.'
'No, kid, that's where you're wrong-that's the difficult bit. Code breaking and all that stuff, that's easy compared to keeping a secret like this...'

Lucky for Ruby Redfort, she's not you average kid. She's never going to crack. She's super smart, she's always cool and she can keep her mouth shut... can't she?

Review:

Ruby Redfort is just an average girl who likes gum and wear shirts that speaks her mind. When Ruby's parents come back from Switzerland strange things are happening. First, Ruby's parents luggages are lost; someone has robbed her house; Mrs Digby is kidnapped and their new house manager is weird. He knows everything about Ruby and Ruby's parents and he keeps on staring at the toast as if there's something written on it. When Ryuby gets a mysterious phone call telling her to meet the person. Surprisingly, it's a test to see if she's clever enough. They ask Ruby to be their code-cracker.

This first book in the series is satisfying. The only drawback is that the book only had action in the end.
