Review:
I love, love, loooove this manga!!! I could go on and on and on about it. From the start i began to read this manga i knew i was going to fall in love with it. Who wouldn't? It's hilarious, got romance, got insides of the showbiz world and it has beautiful drawing!
The characters in this manga are all unique and have their own back story. Our protagonist, Kyoko is hilarious and like any other girl, she loves fairy tales and is waiting for her Prince Charming, but that all get's crushed when her childhood friend, Sho Fuwa, tells her that she's nothing. She tries to get into the showbiz world for revenge and that's where the plot takes off.
Our other main character is Ren Tsuruga. Ren is a actor working for the entertainment company LME. He's very well known by the girls and he's also on the top of the popularity poll! Ren and Kyoko also know each other from their past it's just that Kyoko doesn't remember him. My other favourite characters are all secondary characters: LME President Lory Takarada, Maria (granddaughter of the LME President.), Kanae Kotonami (Kyoko's friend) and Yukihoto (Tsuruga's manager).
Now the plot and the drawing are excellent as well! The author and artist has great humor and the plot has so many twists and turn. One of my favorite scenarios so far is the first rime she gets a LME job where Kyoko helps the actress, when Kyoko and Kanae audition for the drink advertisement, when Kuu comes to Japan and Kyoko acts as his son (Koun) and the latest one: the Heel siblings. My only complaint is that most of the beginning is very slow in romance. Nevertheless i still love it because in the latest chapters there is more details and the romance is heating up (of course, i'm all for Ren.)
This sounds like my kind of manga! I really need to get around to reading it. I just finished Fruits Basket and need something funny. Your review makes me even more excited to read it!
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by my blog!
Why did I not read this yet?? Thanks for the awesome review! I have seen this around a lot, but I was never quite sure about it. Though from the sounds of it its my kind of manga(: I love romance and this one sounds like a nice romantic comedy. Will be checking this out soon.
ReplyDeleteAh another Skip Beat fan! This is one of my favorites! I've been reading it since it started and it's a really long series so far. Still, I'd hate to see it end!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the review! I'm a new follower as well. Us Otakus need to stick together!

Same here. I wouldn't want it to end. It's one of my favourite mangas.
DeleteYay for Skip Beat! I think my favorite plot arc so far was when Kyoko pretended to be Kyon. Both funny and ultimately touching.
ReplyDeleteCan't agree more on you with that, it was really touching. :'(
DeleteI remember watching the first episode of this anime! I liked it but never got to pursue it. It's great to hear that it's great! I'd love to get back to it someday :D
