Review: Cinder ( The Lunar Chronicles #1) by Marissa Myer

Cinder (The Lunar Chronicles #1)
By Marissa Meyer
Pages: 390
Publisher: Puffin
Published: January 3rd 2012

Summary:

A forbidden romance.
A deadly plague.
Earth's fate hinges on one girl...

Cinder, a gifted mechanic in New Beijing, is also a cyborg. She's reviled by her stepmother and blamed for her stepsister's sudden illness. But when her life becomes entwined with the handsome Prince Kai's she finds herself at the centre of a violent struggle between the desired of an evil queen--and a dangerous temptation.

Cinder is caught between duty and freedom, loyalty and betrayal. Now she must uncover secrets about her mysterious past in order to protect Earth's future.

This is not the fairytale you remember.
But it's one you won't forget.

Review:
*Luna means the moon.

Hell yeah, this is not the normal fairytale i remember but hell yeah this is one i will remember for my whole life.

W-O-W. Superb. Excellent. Priceless. Mindblowingjawdropping and a lot more. There's more from where that came from. I've wrote all of these words to describe Cinder but it's not enough. Even a thousand words can't describe Cinder.

After you have read this book you'll just be speechless. Trust me on this one. When i finished reading this book, by the way did i tell you i read this book in a day. Yep. That's right fellow readers you heard it right. One day. One day. One day! When i started this book i could NOT put it down. I did NOT go to sleep; i did NOT eat until i finished it; i did NOT even go to the toilet! And it all went to a priceless, once-in-a-lifetime read. Satisfaction. Satisfaction is sweet!

Marissa is an amazing author. I have become an official fan of Marissa. I love how she unraveled the plot. Cinder, the savor and the only hope for the future mankind. Emperor Kai, rebels between duty and freedom. Queen Levena, the Queen to the Lunars and the destroyer to the Earthens and last not but the least. The plague; Letumosis. Which scientists has no answer and are still looking for a cause and cure.

The book starts with Cinder in her mechanic shop and then 'pop' for some reason Prince Kai is there. Wow. *shock*, my jaw drops to the floor. Oh, wow the prince is here! I mean, why wouldn't the heir to the crown just walk about and say hi to his citizens where there is a chance that he might catch the deadly plague? Nope, a normal prince, heir to the throne wouldn't do that! And with this i was sucked into the fairy tale but not fairy tale that Marissa has made. Prince Kai wants Cinder to fix an android that he prizes-people, keep a eye on that android because it's one of the most important things in the plot. And that's where their relationship starts for Kai and Cinder. Next, you find out that Cinder is immune to the plague. *Breathe in, breathe out* another shock that will make your heart skip some beats, Then, when the Emperor has died Prince Kai becomes the Emperor. Oh, but wait. What is this i read?! Queen Levana has landed on Earth and has gave Emperor Kai a flask of the antidote for the plague.

From that Cinder has to save the world from Queen Lavena and the deadly plague which has killed a millions of innocent lives and the story unravels by itself...

But, believe me when i say this there are still more surprises in the book than here that i have written. It will make your heart stop. For sure...

~characters~

Cinder- I love Cinder's character. I mean come on who wouldn't love a half human, half cyborg in New Beijing, plus on top of that the best mechanic in New Beijing. Cinder lives with her stepmother, Adri and her two stepsisters, Pearl and Peony; Pearl is a spoilt brat and Peony is the nicest out of Adri and Pearl.

Prince Kai or should i say Emperor Kai- Kai is the man that Cinder likes. Prince Kai is the heir to the crown and is fond of Cinder than anyone. But man you need to make a move on Cinder 'cause you ain't gonna start a relationship just like that, boy.

Queen Levana- Boy, does she give me the creeps. She's the queen of the Lunar which is the moon. She wants to marry Kai fo the money and wants to rule over the Earthens.

The only draw back was the romance in the book. I mean come on there was only one kiss through out the whole book and it was only because Cinder wanted to save Earth from that with--Lavena--and it was only in front of million of people in the royal people! If there was more romance it could have made the book go up to another level. However, i still think this book is AWESOME!!!

Therefore, in my opinion i highly recommend this book-Cinder-the first installment in the Lunar Chronicles to every YA reader. Cinder has made me hooked me throughout the whole book by its own unique way of re-telling a fairytale and how it is out of the normal thinking box.

Hell yeah, this is not the normal fairytale i remember but hell yeah this is one i will remember for my whole life.

GR group review: My Enchanted Life by Laura Eno

Review:

Wow. There alot of things going on. I'm trying to update my blog, found many intresting books to read. I can't wait!

OK, first of all i would like to give a big thanks to Paranormal Romance & Urban Fantasy Fanatics group that i have joined on Goodreads because they are the one who gave me a chance to read this book.

So, the story is about a girl, Emma Winslow, and she gets a letter saying she has got a house from her uncle who is dead. But it seems Emma isn't who she thinks she is and the village isn't what you see it as. Now, the next thing is interesting. Emma is a Sentinel. They are very special creatures; their job is to make sure the world remain separate from each other and to help prevent demons from crossing into the mundane world, of course! And then the other thing that gets smacked right straight on her face is that Wode Gate isn't a town, it's a gate-a magical gate.

The plot and the setting in this book is awesome. The plot of this book is what i liked. Laura made this book vague by the villain. You will never guess who the villain really is until you read it so get reading people!

My first thought on this book was that it was a MG (middle grade) book because of the front page and the title. However, when i read this found out it was a YA (young adult) book. The start of this book jumped right onto the main point and then slowly starts to unravel the story. Then when she went to England all the characters that she met was all suspicious to me. I mean how can a house maid look like a model. Also, the setting is creepy but from the first description for  Randolph i was drooling. Then the problem came up. *Dramatic music*. Emma has to save herself, her people and most importantly her lover, Matthew from the king of the underworld. Finally, at the end i loved the 6 months later for the conclusion.

And the setting for this book is awesome. Particularly the library. I would love to have my own library in my own house like that one!

~Characters~

Emma's character is brave, mysterious and always straight to the point kind of girl. She's brave because she tries out things that people who be scared of. She's mysterious because you don't know everything from the start. However, when you go on reading the book you find out some shocking facts about her.

Nuh uh uh. I am not reading this! All the characters are awesome.

  • Cussard (the dragon). I would love to meet him!
  • Mathew is a demon? No way! As Emma says he looks like an angel!
  • Lizzy, the house keeper is lovely. She is so kind and thoughtful! And i also feel sorry for her because of the curse she has.
  • I'm liking Randolph more and more as i read on. But in the end i hate him. He is a peculiar character. In my opinion i thought Emma was going to end up liking Randolph but she still stuck with Matthew. I would have liked it; it would have added a bit of spice to the romance.

However, there was also a little, little confusing moment for is who is the shape shifter that changed into Matthew? Or maybe it's just my stupid brain which is not working properly.

In conclusion, My Enchanted Life is a quick read-the whole story is short-205 pages (can you believe that?)-but its packed with action, romance and all the things you need to know. I would love to read more of Laura's works if i can get my hands on them. So get reading people!

Review:

Avenger's Angel is page turning, thrilling and priceless. You'll be skipping pages till the end. I don't know how to start or say about this book to make you guys see that this book is priceless.

The first thing i want to say is wow. Like have you read the blurb! The blurb was the only reason i'm reading this book.

The first time you read this book you might be like ' what the hell. I've got the wrong book! This is about vampires! Arrrh!' But no. It's part of the story. And thats what i actually love about this book. Unlike other angel and Greek myths it has got a extravaganza twist.

OK, so from the star it hits you across the face as if you've been slapped by the book. Lol. Anyway, so the prologue just sucks you on with all about the Old Man, the archangels and their archesses.

The whole plot is like a hill. First you start with oh-everything-is-normal. Next, you have to go all the way to the top to see everything to understand everything. Then, you go all the way down on full speed like every slot in a puzzle is finally coming together and finally, you reach the bottom with satisfaction and with a happy ending.

~Characters~

Eleanore's -Uriel's archess- is really femenist and i mean don't get me wrong but i'm all 'you go girl' but because of that she keeps on thinking Uriel is the bad guy and thats bad for both of them. OMG! Ellie's past, present and tense has an extradinary characters and stories. I just can belive it. But it all make scence when you finish the books and it gives you heartattacks and surprises because of her past, by the way.

Uriel- Angel of Vengeance. Uriel i would die for you. Seriously i would. I would kill to get a guy like him.

Uriel's brothers are also something to die for as well. Gabriel-the Old Man's messenger; Azrael-Angel of Death; Miachel-the Warrior Angel.

Sameal -one of the fallen angels and one of the villains. Urrrh! I hate that guy! Who the hell does he think he is? Though he is an angel but seriously i have never hated a villain in a book so much as him. Wait scratch that i hate Kevin. He thinks he can do anything he likes then he's wrong.

I can't wait for the next book and Heather has already gave us a hint of what's next but she still left it like a cliff hanger. I'm guessing the next book is about one of Uriel's brother and their archess.

Therefore, i have to say that you would NOT want to miss this for this for the world. And when i say not i really mean it.
